PHIL 039. ExistentialismIn this course, we will examine existentialist thinkers such as Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Heidegger, Sartre, Beauvoir, and Camus to explore themes of contemporary European philosophy, including the self, responsibility and authenticity, and the relationships between body and mind, fantasy and reality, and literature and philosophy. PHIL distribution - H, L, V Prerequisite: First- and second-year students must complete one introductory level PHIL course before enrolling in this course. Humanities. 1 credit.
