ARTH 003. Asian Art: Past and PresentThis course surveys the arts of China, Korea, Japan, and India from the late Neolithic period to the present. Using vocabularies and tools of analyses from the discipline of art history, we examine the form and significance of key monuments of art and architecture, consider the dynamic relationship between the visual arts and their ritual, religious, economic, and socio-political contexts, and reflect upon parallels between past and present motivations for cultural production.
