PSYC 051. Psychology of Humor

Each day most people participate in humorous exchanges.  We seek out movies, television programs, Youtube videos and books that make us laugh. Cross-culturally societies appreciate a good "sense of humor."  Few would argue that humor is not highly valued.  This course will focus on theoretical and empirical approaches to humor, with a view to understanding its practical applications in business, relationships, stress management and entertainment.Class members will also be asked frequently to apply the concepts they have learned to themselves and the world around them. If they do, they and the world will be better for it. If not, they¹ll have only themselves to blame.
