STAT 041. Topics in Statistics: Data Science

This course will introduce students to data science using R and will provide students with the skills needed to engage in the entire data analysis workflow.  Students will practice extracting insights from data as they gain experience handling, analyzing, and interpreting large, complex datasets.  Students will learn how to wrangle and combine data from multiple sources, to scrape data from the web, to visualize multivariate data with interactive graphics, and to construct predictive models.  Writing R code will be a significant component of the course. 

Prerequisite: STAT 021  or permission of instructor
Natural science and engineering.
Writing course.
1 credit.
