HIST 070D. The History and Politics of Punishment(Cross-listed as POLS 070D ) A survey of the politics and history of incarceration in the United States, this course will focus on the conditions that created the prison system and perpetuated racial inequities. We will also cover the industrial system and its role in the making of the incarcerated state. Open only to junior and senior course majors. Pre-registration is required.
