ARTH 001F. First-Year Seminar: PicassoThis course looks at the questions and arguments art historians have developed to address the multiple facets of Picasso's art, richly represented in the nearby Philadelphia Museum of Art and Barnes Foundation. Methods and perspectives explored include formal analysis, iconography, biography, social history, feminism, semiotics, and museum practice. Class sessions will focus on discussion of case studies and assignments will encourage critical skills and effective written and oral communication. Humanities. Writing course. 1 credit.
