ENGL 114. Early American Media CulturesThis course borrows some of the methods of new media studies to look anew at the multimedia culture of the 18th- and 19th-century United States. We will study newspapers, maps, wampum, photographs, songbooks, advertisements, and counterfeit money, alongside literary texts that thematize this rich media culture. 18th/19th c.
