ANTH 034E. Cultural Heritage: Sites of Survivance


This course will introduce students to the concept of cultural heritage and students will begin to examine the theories and methods that shape the efforts to protect and interpret cultural heritage in the past and present. We will examine several sites across the globe and explore such issues as the threats to cultural heritage, the roles of the public and other groups in protecting and interpreting cultural heritage, international laws and ethics, ownership, responsibility, and definitions of heritage.
