PHYS 017. Mathematical Methods of PhysicsA half-semester survey of mathematical techniques useful in physics. Topics include eigenvalue problems, Fourier analysis, solutions to ordinary and partial differential equations, special functions, the theory of residues, and numerical methods. Prerequisite: linear algebra (MATH 027 , MATH 028 ; corequisite: multivariable calculus (MATH 033 , MATH 034 , or MATH 035 ). Lab required. 0.5 credit.
