POLS 075. International Politics: Special Topics: The Causes of WarThe causes of war is arguably one of the most important issues in the field of international politics. In each week of the course, a candidate theory will be examined, and a specific war will be analyzed in depth to test the validity of the theory. Topics will include revolution and war, capitalism and war, misperception and war, and resource scarcity and war. The course will conclude with a discussion of the future of war, particularly the likelihood of conflict among the great powers. Social sciences. 1 credit.
