RELG 018. Global ChristianitiesThis course explores Christian beliefs and practices in a global context. We consider Christian worldviews, their cultural expressions, history, and influence upon personal and social self-understanding and action. Examples will be drawn from Christian communities in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Themes include images of the sacred and of Jesus and Mary, mother of Jesus; pilgrimage and festivals; saints; gender; power; and religious authority; politics, conflict, and social transformation; and healing traditions.
