HIST 030A. Sex, Scandals, and Criminal Affairs in European History This course takes histories of crime and scandal as windows through which to analyze broader society in nineteen and twentieth-century Europe. Examining famous (and infamous) scandals and trials, alongside lesser-known affairs, students will consider how age, gender, class, and race, among other factors, impacted public opinion, newspaper coverage, and trial outcomes.
