BIOL 049. Genomics An introduction to genome structure, function, and evolution with a focus on understanding how genomic, proteomic, and systems biology approaches are used to investigate fundamental biological questions. This is a hybrid lecture/laboratory course with integrated laboratories designed to equip students with the fundamental bioinformatic skills needed to analyze large sequence datasets.
This course can be counted towards the Biology major however it cannot be used to satisfy the Group I, II, or III requirements for the Biology major because it does not include a separate laboratory. Students may not take both BIOL 019 and BIOL 049 for credit. This course serves as a prerequisite for BIOL 119, Genomics and Systems Biology.
Prerequisite: BIOL 001 and BIOL 002 or permission from the instructor. Natural sciences and engineering. 1 credit. Fall 2024. Kaplinsky. Catalog chapter: Biology Department website: http://www.swarthmore.edu/biology
