PHIL 053. Indian Philosophy This course covers central philosophical debates that took place among the diverse traditions of premodern Indian Philosophy on topics in metaphysics, epistemology, the philosophy of religion, the philosophy of language, and the philosophy of mind. We will critically analyze debates concerning the existence of selves, an external world, and God; the nature of consciousness; conceptual content and how it relates to the world; how we know dharma (righteousness); and skepticism about the possibility of knowledge. PHIL distribution - H, L, V Prerequisite: First- and second-year students must complete one introductory level PHIL course before enrolling in this course. Humanities. 1 credit.
