PHIL 053. Indian Philosophy

This course covers central philosophical debates that took place among the diverse traditions of premodern Indian Philosophy on topics in metaphysics, epistemology, the philosophy of religion, the philosophy of language, and the philosophy of mind. We will critically analyze debates concerning the existence of selves, an external world, and God; the nature of consciousness; conceptual content and how it relates to the world; how we know dharma (righteousness); and skepticism about the possibility of knowledge.
