ENGR 064. Foundation Design The foundational knowledge of soil, rock, and structural mechanics is utilized to analyze and design foundation systems and earth-retaining structures. The course addresses the capacity, settlement, and deformation of both shallow and deep foundations, as well as the stability of earth-retaining structures such as retaining walls and braced excavation. The laboratory section of the course will build upon the laboratory session of ENGR 061 to conduct site investigations and perform experiments measuring strength parameters. Prerequisite: ENGR 006 and ENGR 061 Spring 2025. Adeleke. Catalog chapter: Engineering Department website: https://www.swarthmore.edu/engineering
