HIST 145. Women and Gender in Chinese History This seminar explores the theoretical frameworks and multiple methodologies that have been applied to the study and interpretation of women and gender in late imperial and modern China (1700-1980s). Our primary aim is to understand the relationship between the construction of gender (in particular, the formation of “woman” and “man” as fixed and normative subjects) and the writing of Chinese history. Concentrations: Gender and Sexuality, Method/Theory Social sciences. 2 credits. Eligible for ASIA, GSST.
