PHIL 113. Topics in Epistemology What is knowledge? Can we have it? If not, why not? If yes, how? What does it mean to have evidence, justification or reasons for ones beliefs? How rational or irrational are we? Can we have a priori, “armchair” knowledge? Is cognition essentially social? We will discuss classic and contemporary answers to such questions. This seminar is intended for Seniors and Juniors, with priority given to honors students taking it as an honors preparation. Others should contact the instructor for permission to enroll.
