PSYC 027. Scientific Computing for Psychology


This course provides an introduction to scientific computing, focused on applications in psychology and neuroscience, for students with little or no programming background. Students will learn various applications of scientific computing, including experimental design and programming; statistical analysis and data visualization; and modeling of behavioral and neural data. Students will also consider how computational approaches influence the accumulation of scientific knowledge, via issues such as interpretation, reproducibility, and open science. By taking this course, students will become proficient in Python, a programming language widely used for scientific research.
Prerequisite: PSYC 001 and PSYC 025 or permission of Instructor.
