HIST 064. Cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Past and Present: Soccer, Tango, Politcis, Nightlife and More in a Capitalist Periphery Drawing on a diverse range of sources, including ads, photographs, journalism, paintings, statistics, sociological essays, tano and rock lyrics, literature, and political pamphlets. This course will explore the social and cultural life of Buenos Aires past and present. Working with these sources along scholarly interpretations, the course examines the city’s multiple temporalities - each unfolding beyond the boundaries of political history. Social sciences.
