SPAN 070. El cuento latinoamericano: relatos de un continente This course offers an engaging introduction to the Latin American short story, a genre celebrated for its inventive storytelling, unexpected turns, and global influence. Students will explore forms such as magical realism, fantastic literature, horror, and detective fiction through works by Horacio Quiroga, Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel García Márquez, Clarice Lispector, and Mariana Enríquez.
Designed to foster thoughtful participation, the course emphasizes quality of engagement over quantity, inviting students to develop their interpretive skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. By the end of the term, students will come away with a deeper appreciation for the pleasure of reading thoughtful, imaginative, and beautifully crafted literature. Humanities. 1 credit.
