POLS 016. Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, and Politics (TH) This course discusses AI ethics in law and public policy, examining the norms and values involved in shaping the governance of AI. This class discusses the issue of accountability and transparency, biases of algorithms, the replacement of jobs and labor, and its impact on democracy. Centering these debates, this course offers both theoretical and practical exercises for generative AI users, making awareness of the ethical risks of advanced technologies and establishing guidelines for using AI responsibly. This class will also engage students in the normative complexities of developing regulatory frameworks that govern AI as advanced technology. This course falls within the theory subfield but only POLS 11, 12, 100, 101, 107 or 117 satisfy the theory requirement. Social Sciences. 1 credit. Eligible for PPE. Spring 2026. Huang.
