BIOL 006. First Year Seminar: The Art of Biological Discovery

This first year semianr consists of four units, each focused on one of Aristotle’s notions of causation (material, proximate, formal and final/evolutionary). Each unit will begin with an overview of relevant biological concepts and experimental strategies. Students will also work with clay to further explore these concepts and create ceramic pieces representing each type of causation. Midway through the semester, students will begin work on a final ceramic project that will be showcased at an exhibit.
Prerequisite: None.
