POLS 053. Conservatives and Reactionaries (TH)

Conservative can be a dirty word in some circles, but at some level everyone is a small c-conservative insofar as it makes sense to conserve what is currently valuable-this is the root of the ecological conservation movement, for example. What, then, are the pros and cons of small c conservatism? And what does it have to do with big-C Conservatism? This course attempts to address these questions via a survey of key texts.
This course falls within the theory subfield but only POLS 11, 12, 100, 101, 107 or 117 satisfy the theory requirement.
