ENGR 082. Materials Engineering We interact with myriad materials in our everyday lives, from plastic packaging, to metals in our laptops, to ceramic bowls. This course will teach you the fundamentals of materials science and engineering, covering mechanical, electronic, and optical properties of polymers, ceramics, metals, semiconductors, and more. We’ll question what sustainability means in the context of materials production, consumption, and recycling. Class activities include materials characterization labs, structured debates, case studies, and a final project. Prerequisite: PHYS 003 or CHEM 010 AND MATH 015; or permission of instructor NSE Not NSEP, with lab Spring 2026. Loh.
