HIST 070. Polycrisis Africa: Life in the Right Now This class looks at the last fifty years of African history, following the collapse and delegitimation of the first wave of African nationalist rule, to think about the meanings and nature of life in sub-Saharan Africa in the present moment. Students will look beyond and behind headlines about suffering and warfare to questions that attend on everyday life and ordinary experience. This is not a class about policy-making or international intervention, but instead about how recent African history looks and feels from an African-centered perspective. Eligible for BLST.
