ARAB 016. Literature, Culture, and Media in the Arab World This course offers a multi-disciplinary exploration of the contemporary Arab world through literature, digital media, and cultural production. Designed for advanced students of Arabic, it moves beyond standard textbook materials to engage with authentic discourse. Students will analyze short stories, poetry, journalistic essays, and multimedia content-including podcasts and interviews with prominent intellectuals and literary figures-to examine the complex social, political, and historical forces shaping the region today. Students will explore themes such as the politics of identity, the impact of gender on social and cultural life, and how historical events continue to shape the Arab world today.
