PHIL 144. Comparative Epistemology This seminar focuses on debates and major questions in Euro-Western epistemology as well as pre-modern Indian epistemology. Topics include the problem of skepticism, the nature (and sources) of knowledge, and topics in social epistemology, such as testimonial knowledge and peer disagreement. One of our main tasks is to see whether we can make progress on unresolved questions by bringing different philosophical traditions into conversation with each other. This seminar is intended for Seniors and Juniors, with priority given to honors students taking it as an honors preparation. Others should contact the instructor for permission to enroll.
