PHYS 080. Classical Electrodynamics Junior-level treatment of classical electrodynamics: electric and magnetic forces, fields, and potentials in vacuum and materials, relativistic origin of magnetic fields, electromagnetic induction, conservation laws, Maxwell’s Equations, and electromagnetic waves. Uses multivariable calculus and differential equations (differential equations taught as part of course) to describe these physical phenomena. Prerequisite: Prerequisites: PHYS 004 (or placement), PHYS 005 , PHYS 006 , PHYS 064 , MATH 033 , MATH 034 or MATH 035 . Natural Science 1 credit Spring 2028 Staff.
