RELG 015. First-Year Seminar: Religion and Literature: Blood and Spirit A seminar-style introduction to study the relation of religious ideas to visionary literature, including novels, stories, sacred texts, and films. A variety of critical theories are deployed to underand (or construct) the meaning of different imaginative variations on reality. Academic and creative writers include many or all of the following: Sophocles, Augustine, Joyce, Morrison, O’Connor, Updike, Dostoevsky, Crace, Lewis, Weil, Scorsese, Kazantzakis, Snyder, Abbey, and Camus.
