SPAN 023. Introducción a la literatura latinoamericana


Continue your Spanish studies through engaging works of Latin American literature. This course explores the dynamic connections between literature, politics, and social change, with readings by authors such as Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel García Márquez, Horacio Quiroga, and Pablo Neruda, alongside newer voices, all centered on the question: "Who are we?"

Designed as a natural next step after language courses, the class emphasizes guided discussion and approachable analysis to build confidence in reading and writing in a supportive environment. Especially recommended for students considering study abroad.
Prerequisite:

  • SPAN 004 (A or higher) or SPAN 014, or instructor permission.
  • Fulfills the writing requirement and counts toward the Spanish major/minor.
