STAT 061. Mathematical Statistics IIntroduction to the mathematical theory of frequentist and Bayesian statistical inference. Topics include parameter estimation, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing, linear regression methods and Bayesian inference. Students needing to learn applied statistics and data analysis should consider Stat 021 in addition to or instead of this course. Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in both STAT 051 and MATH 027 or MATH 028 ; or permission of the instructor.
