Gothic This course will examine the formation of “The Gothic” around 1140 and its development and codification in the Ile-de-France to the middle of the 13th century; monasteries, cathedrals, and chapels; neo-platonism and the new aesthetic; “court-style” and political ideology; structural technology and stylistic change; patronage and production; contextualizing liturgy and visualizing dogma. 1 credit.
