POLS 069. Globalization: Politics, Economics, Culture and the Environment This course examines globalization along its diverse but inter-related dimensions, including economic, cultural, and political globalization. Topics include: historical overview of globalization; economic globalization and its governance with a focus on the major international organizations involved in the governance of international trade and financial flows, the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund; global inequality and poverty; cultural globalization; political globalization and the state; environmental globalization; regional organizations, particularly the EU; and prospects for global democracy.
