RELG 014. Christian Life and Thought in the Middle Ages Survey of western Christian religious culture and thought from the early to the late Middle Ages. Among other topics, the course will consider debates about the nature of the Divine, the person and work of Jesus Christ, heresy and dissent, bodily devotion, love, mysticism, scholasticism, and holy persons. Readings may include Augustine, Anselm, Avicenna, Abelard, Hildegard of Bingen, Francis of Assisi, Catherine of Siena, Thomas Aquinas, Julian of Norwich, and John Wyclif.
