SOCI 008G. First-Year Seminar: Science in Public Life This class looks at how science contributes to the development of new technologies and practices which impact the environment, public health, daily life, and warfare. In order to help understand these patterns of the ‘co-construction’ of science and society, the course also looks at science education, the media portrayal of science and technology, and the role of scientific expertise in public policy and decision-making. 1 credit.
