SOCI 027C. Classical Theory Through the works of Marx, Weber, Durkheim, Simmel, DuBois, and Freud, the recurrent and foundational themes of late 19th- and early 20thcentury social theory will be examined: capitalism, class conflict and solidarity, alienation and loneliness, social disorganization and community, and secularization and new forms of religiosity.
