SPAN 001. Intensive First Year of Spanish
Students who start in the SPAN 001/SPAN 002 sequence must complete SPAN 002 to receive credit for SPAN 001.
Students must take SPAN 001 before proceeding to SPAN 002 . This course is intended for students who begin Spanish in college. The first year of Spanish is designed to encourage the development of communicative proficiency through an integrated approach to the teaching of all four language skills-listening and understanding, reading, writing, and speaking. It also fosters awareness of the Spanish-speaking world through authentic cultural materials (films, music, news) and information, thus deepening the student’s living understanding of the multi-faceted Spanish-speaking world.
Note: SPAN 001 is offered in the fall semester only.
