STUA 016. Sculpture I This course is an introduction to the basic elements, techniques, and history of sculpture. We cover both additive and reductive processes. Materials and techniques will include clay modeling and construction, plaster modeling and casting, and cardboard and wood construction. There is an emphasis on the development of form and structure particular to each process, in regards to the concepts of space, form, weight, mass, and design in sculpture. The teaching method includes slide lectures, demonstrations of techniques, and individual guidance on studio projects. Prerequisite: STUA 001. Foundation Drawing , or, STUA 001B.
