CHIN 109. Daoism This seminar will look at the texts and contexts of both philosophical and religious Daoism, from intellectual and literary culture to popular belief and custom. It will explore the ways of Daoism from early into modern times: texts and contexts; sectarian religion and individual praxis; cultural taproot and personal mindset; cosmology and alchemy; gods, saints, priests, and recluses; aesthetics and the arts.
