It will also examine how anthropological issues in dance or performance are closely tied to issues of modernity, regional and national identity, gender, and politics. Various ethnographies and literature from dance studies, media and film studies, and feminist studies will be included in the course material. It will also require students to view videos to engage in visual analysis. Writing course. (Cross-listed as SOAN 077B) 1 credit.
