ENGL 114. Early American Media Culture
This course borrows some of the methods of new media studies to look anew at the multimedia culture of the 18th- and 19th-century United States. We will study handbills, wampum, daguerreotypes, political cartoons, maps, songbooks, and counterfeit money, as well as literary texts that thematize this rich media culture. Group I (pre-1830)
