HIST 116. European Intellectual History: Pathways to the Enlightenment This honors seminar will explore European intellectual history from the Renaissance to the post-moderns, with the Enlightenment as the central historical problem. Where did the Enlightenment come from, and what did it result in? We will examine scholarship that has engaged this question in different ways, exploring intersections between the history of European ideas and cultural history, the history of revolutions, the history of sexuality, and the history of Empire. 2 credits.
