GMST 091. Contemporary German Literature/Gegenwartsliteratur


In this course, we will read a variety of prose texts representing the latest work of contemporary novelists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  The selected novels are meant as buoys in the vast sea of recent literary publications, marking current thematic and stylistic preoccupations in German literature. Readings include novels by Reinhard Jirgl, Angelika Klüssendorf, Ursula Krechel, Lutz Seiler, Stephan Thome, Eva Lapido, David Bielmann und Monique Schwitter.
