ENVS 030. Introduction to Food Policy
This course comprehensively introduces food policy, exploring its intricate relationship with social, economic, and environmental factors in food production, distribution, and consumption. Through lectures, discussions, case studies, and interactive exercises, students gain a solid understanding of key concepts, including agricultural practices, food supply chains, food access, and food justice. Students will also examine pressing issues like food security, climate change’s impact on agriculture, and food waste while learning to evaluate existing policies and propose solutions for more sustainable and equitable food systems. Designed for students in various fields, it equips students with essential knowledge and skills to engage in food policy and contribute to food system transformation.
