BIOL 061. Biomedical Modeling and Simulation Cross-listed as ENGR 016 This course covers the fundamentals of modeling biomedical systems. Topics include: unit analysis, exponential growth/decay, half-life, exponential vs. age-structured death models, sigmoidal growth models, sigmoidal effect models, mass-action reaction rates, and experimental measurement noise models. MATLAB is used to simulate all of the phenomena.
This course (or ENGR 016) satisfies an elective credit for Biology majors and minors. However, it does not satisfy any of the Advanced Seminar, Group I, II, or III requirements. Prerequisite: MATH 025 . Natural Sciences and Engineering Practicum. Lab required. 1 Credit. Spring 2026. Piovoso.
