MUSI 119. Composition This course focuses on creating original music and consists of private composition lessons and a group seminar. Composition lessons are individual meetings with the instructor, centered on each student’s creative vision regardless of musical genre, where both notated and non-notated approaches and work with acoustic and electronic media are encouraged. Seminar activities include group discussion, masterclass-style work shares, student and faculty presentations on a variety of musical topics, group improvisation sessions, and talks by guest artists. Students are expected to have prior experience equivalent to MUSI 011 for those creating notated music, and MUSI 003A for those working with electronics. Repeatable course.
