SPAN 023. Introducción a la literatura latinoamericana Welcome to our academic journey through Latin American literature! This course delves into the dynamic relationship between aesthetics, politics, and social change in the region’s rich literary tradition. We will analyze texts by renowned authors like Quiroga, Borges, García Márquez, and Neruda, alongside emerging voices, to explore the fundamental question: “Who are we?”
Themes such as colonial legacies, nation-building, and identity intersections will be central as we navigate the complexities of Latin American history and culture. Through close readings and critical analysis, students will sharpen their analytical skills while deepening their understanding of the region’s diverse narratives.
Ideal for students seeking to enhance their Spanish proficiency and broaden their academic horizons. This course is especially recommended for those planning to study abroad.
