ENGR 078. Communication Systems This course expolres theory and design principles of analog and digital communication systems. Topics include frequency domain analysis of signals; signal transmission and filtering; random signals and noise; AM, PM, and FM signals; sampling and pulse modulation; digital signal transmission; Pulse Code Modulation; coding; and information theory. Applications to practical systems such as television and data communications are covered. Offered in the spring semester of alternate years. Prerequisite: ENGR 012 with a grade of C- or better or permission of the instructor. Natural sciences and engineering practicum. Lab included. 1 credit.
