HIST 007B. Black Atlantic History 2: Freedom and Anticolonial Movements

This introductory course centers the lived experiences of people of African descent in the U.S. and the wider Atlantic World during the period between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. We will be covering people of African descent’s pivotal roles in political, cultural, and intellectual life in the U.S. and beyond, inclusive of their experiences of mass migrations within the U.S. and to the U.S. from the Caribbean and South America, Africa, and to a lesser extent, Europe.
