HIST 148. Issues and Debates in Modern Latin America Explores major problems and challenges Latin American nations have been confronting since the last third of the 19th century onward. Topics include the neocolonial condition of the region, nation and state building processes, urbanization, industrialization, popular and elite cultures, modernities in the periphery, and race, class, and gender conflicts.
